Putting The Soul In Social Media + Digital Strategy

#SmallBusinessSaturday Highlights: My Current Clients

I haven't blogged here in awhile and one of those reasons is because on top of being the Founder of #blkcreatives, (a digital media platform empowering Black culture's best) and my full-time job as a Marketing Manager (Venture For America, which is creating economic opportunities in American cities through mobilizing the next generation of entrepreneurs), I also work as a freelance social media strategist.

How do I do it all?

That's another story for a later time. In honor of today being #SmallBusinessSaturday, I want to highlight the small businesses that I work with on a daily basis.

My Lit Box

My Lit Box was founded in April 2016 by Sanura Williams and is a result of what happened when her insatiable love of reading books met her desire to share the books she fell in love with. My Lit Box's motto is "Color. Conversation. Community." MLB celebrates writers of color, create conversations surrounding their works, and build a community of book lovers.

Each month you'll receive a newly released novel by a writer of color as well as  1-2 quality, book related goodies! I love Sanura's practical mission of supporting diversity in literature. I believe that sometimes, when we speak about diversity, we only have our focus on one single group. My Lit Box is very intentional about including authors from various backgrounds and the audience RAVES about the surprise featured book choice each month.

Proud Moment: We've been working together since July, and have gained over 200 organic followers each month, organically.

Kaleido Beauty

Beauty is more than just lip gloss. It's culture, wellness and female empowerment. It's a way for women to connect and inspire each other. Beauty is at the core of feeling strong, and is essential to achieving success. Whether it's a shade of lipstick, a fitness routine or a meaningful mantra, everyone has their own path. And their own story to tell. The more we share, the more we grow and learn from each other. Kaleido Beauty, founded by Mimi Valdés, is a home for these stories, and we are building a community across social media. As we roll out more content across more platforms, including film and TV, we will spark more meaningful conversations about what it means to live your beauty.

I've been a magazine junkie since I was a kid and it was the major reason why I (started off) pursuing a career in journalism. Mimi Valdés has been on the many journalists who's influenced my career so it's an honor to work with her. What I love the most about Kaleido Beauty is that it's more about the woman, than it is about the products. It's a reminder that our stories, our personal mantras, are more important than we realize.  Proud Moment: For now, Instagram is our primary medium and it's been great to watch the feedback from the women featured, as well as the brands that they love.

sanaia Applesauce

Sanaia Applesauce Keisha.jpg

sanaia applesauce is a homemade, organic, gluten free grownup version of applesauce and it is unlike any other applesauce you have tried. I promise. Inspired by her childhood upbringing in the Bahamas, Keisha created sanaía because she believes that what we eat, provides us with the fuel we need to live the life we want.

First of all, I LOVE food. So that's that. But Keisha is so intentional about delivering a high quality product that's good to you and for you, that sanaia is pretty much undeniable. By day, Keisha is the Chief Human Resources Officer for News Corp and is also a Life Coach and infuses inspiration in every thing she does. sanaia applesauce is no different.

Proud Moment: Lisa Price and Nicci Gilbert have already become huge fans of sanaia. Want to try it for yourself? Use code SANAIA40 at checkout for 40% off gift sets today.
